Whobeta Vs. Finals Game 7 @Bigheff Industry Tour St.Louis Stop

ImageThe awkward moment when NBA finals reach game 7, and lands on the Thursday of your event, you ask yourself. Why me oh lord why me, lol. Frantically, you reach of for support near & far, & your end result is as followed.

Thursday June 20th, Another Level Sports Bar, Berkeley, Mo, 930 Pm Walks inside venue loos left, looks forward, looks right, and find my self in a situation in which it is just me, the bartender, & security, & its half time for the NBA finals.I feel relieved no one has beaten me to this empty venue, while nervous that the turn out, might be minimal.

Midway through the 3rd quarter the bars population grew, 2 by 2 they spewed in, until we had about 20 – 25 surrounded by the flat screens of the bar, with only 1 concern (not the Show case),who will win the finals. At this time 1 group of artist, who traveled from St.Joseph, Mo was lost & and at another level sports bar in East Saint Louis.(WTF), my host & photographer could not make it because of childcare & transportation, & Big Heff who stated earlier that day he was going to watch half of the finals then head to the venue, were not present as the 4th quarter made way.

During the final 6 minutes of the game everything started to make sense, supporters were present, all performers were present, and spirits were high and of course were ready for (not the show case to start) the new NBA champions to be crowned. After what ever team won, Big Heff sent a text saying he was on his way (wtf happened to 2 quarters lol). Image

After all the Cheers & boo’s, & social post about the finals were over, we began the Showcase which feature Hussoulman, Pooh Naz T & Nap Dogg ( From Saint Joseph, Mo). Traestl (From St.Roberts, Mo),Gifted Dance Crew (St.Louis / St.Charles Area) Surprise performer Peety Weestro, last event winner & St.Louis natives King Cakes, who took on the responsibilities of hosting (thank God), King James (no relation to Lebon Jamies) who was celebrating his 22nd B-Day with a concert & from Pittsburgh, Penn K-Mitch.

After all of the performances took place, Big Heff decided to pick 2 winners 1 being Trae Stl, & the other being Peety Weestro, who wasn’t officially in the contest but gave a dynamic performance of his hit song Pull up, Shut it Down.

king

With the events attendance being no more then 60 I would say the crowd was one of the best crowds I have seen in a while, filled with only people who wanted to be there. It wasn’t over drowned with performances, and gave a good indication on were the local scene stood. I want to thank everybody who attended the event, King James, King Cakes, Traestl, Gifted Dance Crew, O’Reginal Ent,  & all of their friends, family fans, & supporters, Will Victory, Mos Precious / her label, Dj Smooth of 90.7 Fm  Peoria, Ill, and of Course Big Heff & K-Mitch. Last but not least Sho’Me records President Jay B, & the Staff at Another Level Sports Bar.Thank you all once again.

Prophit Smith- Long Island Ny (18) ,
Spend childhood in New York, with the typical east coast hoop dreams of making it to the NBA. Had a minor college stint in which he realized college wasn’t for him & some how ended up in Saint Louis (who does that lol ). At 26 years old he’s been rapping for 15 years with over 400 shows according to the New York Native, including his greatest performance oppurtunity inside theVoodoo Room at Harrahs casino. Prophit Smith (not his real name, smh), Started taking his music serious after his his father was departed to Jamaica, on drug charges, died shortly after. His mother, native to Trinidad, told his to pick up a hobby & the only thing Smith could chose from was dope & hip hop. Seeing the demise of his father from froms he decided instead to rap, & Penned the label Legal Money Gang, showing his dedication to staying legit. Besides rap Prophit is a full time catering but on the entertainment side he’s been atttempting to also break through the industry as a model, & actor, attending 100’s of casting calls. He is hoping this year is his year with the release of his newest mixtape Black Roses Pt.2 , & kicking off 3 day 3 city tour including Studio 618, & diamond club for the Big Heff Industry showcase, powered by We Live N Direct. Of course he hopes to win, but also he hopes to make some good connections, & build some momentum before the spring.

More info will be added later to day but for now vote.

White Eagle – Troy, Mo
TMA Male Artist of the year finalist, Top 10 artist for Saint Louis on Reverbnation. I (Whobeta) consider him the most Hated artist in of Saint Louis, & St.Charles County. In his latest video he warns all competition that we is coming for all awards, contest, & fans. He admits to being new to the rap game, while learning all the ends & outs, but is in rare form surviving off of Hip hop merchandise with hoodies, hats, t-shirts & of corse cds. I have I made several trips out to the 636 to drop off tickets as he has rumored to have sold more then 75 so far for the event. Catch him posing with fans, white Eagle has rumored to sold more than 50 tickets for the event, & considers his fans as a part of Eagle Nation. Catch his new mixtape which should be ready for the summer Titled Alpha & Omega with numerous features including some from this competition.

KING JAMEZ - FRESHEST FACE IN HIP HOP

King Jamez – NoCo, Mo
THIS BARBER TURNED RAPPER HAS BEEN AT IT FOR LESS THEN A YEAR BUT BELIEVES HE HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO COME OUT ON FEB. 28TH WITH A WIN. HOW CRAZY WOULD IT BE FOR AN ARTIST WITH ONLY 1 PERFORMANCE TO TAKE HOME THE PROMO DEAL. HIS BACKGROUND INCLUDES SINGING & PLAYING DRUMS AT CHURCH. HE MIGHT BE THE FRESHEST FACE IN HIP HOP STARTING OFF AS A HOBBY FOR THE YOUNG BARBER WHEN HE USE TO GET HIGH  & FREESTYLE WITH CLASS MATES, WHO KEPT TELLING HIM HE WAS NICE (OF COURSE WHILE HIGH LOL ) HE JUST STARTED RECORDING LATE 2012 & HIS ONLY PERFORMANCE EVER WAS IN LATE OCTOBER. YOU CAN HIT HIM UP ABOUT HAIR CUTS OR HIS NEW EP ENTITLED “KICK YOUR FEET UP” 314-740-4747 . IF HE COMES EVEN CLOSE TO WINNING THIS EVENT HE WILL BE CONSIDERED ROOKIE OF THE YEAR IN MY BOOK.

@WHOBETA’S PREDICTION’S FOR @XXL’S 2013 FRESHMAN CLASS & THERE CONNECTION OR LACK OF CONNECTION TO ST.LOUIS

EVERY YEAR SINCE ABOUT 2007-2008 XXL HAS HAND PICKED 10 ARTIST THAT SHOULD BE RELEVANT IN THE COMING YEARS. THROUGH OUT THE FRESHMAN CLASS ERA THEY HAVE PICKED SOME OF TODAY’S BIGGEST STARS SUCH AS LUPE FIASCO , J COLE, BIG SEAN TO NAME A FEW. THEY ALSO PICKED A FEW DISAPPOINTMENTS WHO WILL BE NAMELESS. AFTER LOOKING AT THE LAST 5 YEARS OF FRESHMAN I DECIDED TO PREDICT THIS YEARS.

Out of the 50 candidates none or from my home town of Saint Louis. So just for kicks I will attempt to connect each artist to my city.

1.Ca$h Out

CASH OUT ARTWORK FOR CASHING OUT

CLICK THE LINK TO READ WHAT CASH OUT HAD TO SAY ABOUT SAINT LOUIS IN A 2012 INTERVIEW

is definitely on the list, he had on of the biggest hip hop records of the Spring (hands down) , and has been consistently dropping music that his audience likes .

He came to St.Louis twice in 2012. Once at Sj 2012 which he mentioned was one of the highlights of his career. The second time he came to St.Louis was a few weeks after SJ 2012 at The Broadway (now closed). Due to lack of media coverage there is evidence this show took place.

Also, random fact , there was a guy telling local artist he was Cash Out & that he was doing collaborations for the low. Was it Cash Out I doubt it as I don’t recall any local features with Cash Out. (IJS)

2.Chief Keef if he’s not on the list that’s that shit I don’t like, lol. But seriously he had one of the hottest rap songs of the year, so hot that Kanye West had to put his entire team on it.Besides constant bangger’s Chief Keef is always in the headlines whether its for parole violation , child support claims, or his twitter being allegedly hacked. He is also 1 of few of the 50 official nominee’s to drop a national released project (for sale).

Has nocame to St.Louis, there were several rumors of possible bookings in 2012 in which in all cases promoters backed out for similar reasons. There are now several diss songs from St.Louis artist opposing Chief Keef, Lil Reese, & the GBE, #300 movement, which started after Lil Reese allegedly tweeted FUCK ST.LOUIS, after a show in which the promoters & fans both reported that he showed up to the venue sooner then 25 minutes before the venue closed.

3.Hit-Boy out side of the rapper box he has to be on this list check his resume. Production credits in 2012 include Jay z, Kanye West, Rick Ross & more.  He’s also signed to Kanye West label G.O.O.D music (why would XXL disappoint Ye’ ). Any producer that can excite people about Nigga’s In Paris might have a few more tricks up his sleeve.

There are no records of Hit-Boy coming to St.Louis on anything music related & I cant think of any ST Alien who has even mentioned buying a beat from him. I’m sure he does’t care though, he’s G.O.O.D .

4. Kirko Bangz

Mos Precious captures Kirko Bangz in Saint Louis

Click Photo to check out Footage.

, of course he’s on the list he had one of the 1st hot songs of 2012 with “Drink In My Cup.” Constantly coming with new music & new features & is definitely a music maker to look out for in 2013.

To my knowledge and personal attempts, a few promoters we attempting to book Kirko but each time it seemed as if they were stalling and waiting on the big pay check. He came to Saint Louis once to my knowledge and was not highly attended.

@WHOBETA  & @THEREALRITTZ IN STL (314)

CLICK LINK TO HERE RITTZ INTERVIEW WEEKS BEFORE SIGNING TO STRANGE MUSIC

5. Rittz they guy is cosigned by the biggest independent artist of our time. Not only that Rittz has came along way in 1 year from being a virtual unknown to being promoted on 100’s to 1000’s of platforms.  Now people are starting to know the name & image.

He had a great show in St.Louis at the Atomic Cowboy with Royal 1 management in which we got a really dope interview & back story to Rittz who was flipping burgers no less then 8 months prior to our interview. Side note was probably high as hell and probably is now.

6.Tito Lopez

@WHOBETA & @REALTITOLOPEZ IN STL (314)

a black guy with the Spanish name. One of the only rappers signed under major label capitol records, with 2 songs peaking on BET’s 106 & Parks count down. He’s cosigned by fellow Mississippi artist Big Krit as well as dope behind the scene hip hop head who don’t even need to be mentioned.

He came to St.Louis twice last year. Once with Big Krit & Slim Thug to a fantastic show at the Old Rock House in the Summer, & again in the fall for a more personal meet & greet with Saint Louis dj’s , bloggers, & taste makers.

7.Trinidad James, Since the summer has been one of the most talked about new comers, signing a $2,000,000 deal with Def Jam,  & noticeable yet unique wardrobe. He is the poster boy for Livemixtapes.com with thousands of small brained rappers thinking that was the look that elevated him.

As much as they love/hate/ talk about him in Saint Louis, he has yet to visit Saint Louis & his 1st official concert will be Febuary 22th at the old rock house.

8.Stalley From a political stand point MMG has 3 artist on the short list for Freshman certification. Being that Rick Ross is one of the most trending rappers and is alligned with alot of other important people I know that can’t resist putting at least 1 of his artist on the freshman cover if not 2. My heart is praying that Gun Play is not considered a freshman, he his over 30 has at least 5 years under MMG being featured on major songs, complilations, & mixtapes , way before 2012. Rocky Fresh is too new with little to boast when compared to his fellow label mates & freshman candidates

.imagesBoth midwest natives Stalley & Rocky Fresh have both performed in Saint Louis. Stalley came back in 2011 when he was 1st signed to MMG & Rockie Fresh came in August of this year weeks after signing with the label. I have no insight to Gun Play being in Saint Louis but being one of Rick Ross’s right hand henchmen maybe he came with Ross back in February.

9.Chris Webby

Beta Radio Weekly Review: Week 13 ( Dj’s & Their Damn Opinion)

November 10th, 4 Days after the U.S.A. selected Barrack Obama to serve another term Beta Radio was Live N Direct on 89.5 the wave. With all my guest (who won’t be named) cancelling out at the last moment the only thing I could do is lean on the love of fellow Dj’s.

Dj Stunun Music Review/ Interview with Whobeta 89.5 the wave

Click to hear entire interview.

The weekly music review, which until this time was a segment in which artist gave feed back to other artist who have submitted their music to Beta Radio, Stared Gary, Indiana’s & Midwest Pocket Pool Dj Stanun. He gave a lot of insight of all the great artist who came from his city including the Legendary Micheal Jackson & CTE’ s (Young Jeezy’s Label ) Freddie Gibbs. During the Music Review he listened to music from Enforcer, White Eagle, Jzanell, Ray Goss, & Reik Rivers, giving out 2 outstanding Green Lights (Dope Tracks) & 2 screeching red lights (Bad Tracks) going as far as saying you couldn’t pay him to play certain track & even on accident  confused another artist as a female rapper. Besides passing judgement on selected music he talks about the positive work going on with his record pool/ dj coalition midwestpocketpool.com and how to sign up as an artist/ dj . Before rapping up the interview he gave 5 plus minutes of shout outs im which he covered just about everybody in the industry it seems from shouting out Dj Drama, to shouting out Santa Claus, & everybody who paid their taxes on time. For full interview & music review click photo above.

As a bid to piss every and anybody who voted for Mitt Romney, I vowed personally to play Young Jeezy’s – My President at least once a show. Side note both Jay Nixon (Democrat) & Claire Macaskill (Democrat) Both won in Missouri by more than 10 % of the vote while Barrack Obama loss by more than 10 % in Missouri. I feel racism some where in that considering they all have similar beliefs, & political views any way next paragraph.

With my 2pm guest cancelling I reached out to beautiful Cool Running Dj, Coast to Coast Dj, Fleet Dj, the list continues forever Florida’s own, Tampa Mystic. We talked a while about her ties to the lovely city of St.Louis, her pet peeves when it comes to artist/ dj relations & alot more.    We even had a chance to play music from an artist she’s currently pushing by the Name of TBS (not the tv network). To check out part 1 of this interview click on either her or Dj Smalls below

Beta Radio Weekly Review: Week 4 (Deal or no deal)

Saturday September 8th on Beta radio it went down in a major way with our in studio guest, from the great state of Texas, our phone in interview with an up & coming artist of Major label Def Jam, award show announcements, and even a surprise call about a multi-platinum artist.

1st we kicked things off with our new homie Big Sid out of Texas. He reviewed tracks from local artist such as Ali ( R & B singer), Motre ( R & B group),  rap artist Ace Boog, & Clay L, & also Cleveland, Ohio artist Mookie Montonio. Overall he gave 2 tracks great reviews & 1 bad reviews. He also told us about some of his good & bad times as an artist. He stated that one of the worse parts of his career was ever signing a deal, while the best part of his career was working with Killer Mike, being a big fan of his & and the dungeon family growing up. To hear the entire interview click picture to your right.

Next hour we prepared for our call with Def Jam’s new artist & Cleveland, Ohio’s own Ray Jr. as we aired his new single Lic Lac on our station for the 1st time. We discussed his situation with Def Jam, why he got pulled off stage at one the the summers biggest concerts in Cleveland and more. We brought up the beef between Chief Keef & Lupe Fiasco & if there was any major beefs in Cleveland, Ohio. He told us that he wasn’t aware of there beef & stated that there wasn’t many rap beefs in Cleveland because they don’t have enough money to beef out there. Before we debuted his new single Lic Lac he let us know it was a party joint which basically means straight liquor no chaser &  that’s how"click to hear interview & single lic lac" they do it in Cleveland, he tell’s us. Follow Ray Jr. on twitter at @Rayjr216 & here entire interview & single by clicking photo to the left.

After all the excitement of our 1st two guest we were attempting to announce the 20 nominees for Hip Hop imagery award at the Remix Awards going down October 26th  at Pure ultra lounge (previously junk yard bar & grill), when we received a call from Chingy’s Represenative telling us about the release of his new  Sphilka Vodka at Randalls  Randall’s (Jefferson & 44) St.Louis, Mo. After the call in we continued on with the announcements of nominess for the Remix award show. For complete nominess click on picture of Chingy below.

Beta Radio Weekly Review: Week 3 (Mr.Controversy)

First in foremost like my fan page and follow me on twitter @whobeta.

As hurricane Issac swept through St.Louis. Beta Radio was live & direct on 89.5 the wave & we started September off big. Our 1st guest, and 40 year old rapper (no not 2 Chains) cancelled at the last moment. This was great because it allowed @whobeta to play more great, indie music.

Click Photo to here interview/music review.

The 1 pm Hours things we took the show to Texas with special guest caller T. Fields who represents all of West Texas. He gave us a little background on where he came from and was even nice enough to review some of the music we had in Rotation. After listening to music from The 80’s Baby ( St.Louis artist), Young Dirt (N.C. artist), Mss Texas (of course from Texas), Mos Precious & So So Def new artist Fresco Kane (both from Stl Region). He gave 2 songs a surprising Green Light, said 2 songs were OK and, gave them a yellow, but was disappointed with 1 song giving it  the unhonorable  red light. To hear his entire interview click on the above photo.

After our 1st official guest we continued our mission in playing great indie artist. I didn’t believe my 3rd guest would arrive but at 3 PM battle world super star Aye Verb, friend and elite St.Louis Promoter Chigga Chase, and Behind the Scenes master mind JP arrived but from different entrances (random). We started our Interview talking about his situation at SM2 in which P.Diddy put $10,000 of his money on the outcome. He explained that was Diddy’s money was involved the entire crowd atmosphere changed and he even admits giving his opponent round 2 while also mentioning his opponent becoming so physical that he had to push him off of him. We also discussed the history of the battle Scene in St.Louis & the emergence of the St.Louis Big 3 ( Aye Verb, Hitman Holla, & Ill Spitta). We even addresses issues of him blocking others from a successful career.  To hear entire Chase & Verb interview click on thier above photo.

After coming back from a break Aye Verb addresses why he dropped commercial  single St.Louis chick, and basically states that it was a waste of time. We then addressed his new projects. He’s working on a new mixtape, clothing line with Greedy Genuious, a 12 chapter audio book, and bringing back World Wars. We discussed his following on twitter and even admits to banging alot of his followers. After asking him why so many people hate him he some how began interviewing me which for me was an unexpected highlight of the interview.

Last break with the guys and Chigga Chase tells us about all the wonderful parties they have and brags about pouring Ciroc and other fluids down various BM’s, Girlfriends, & Wife’s with no remorse for his actions. Chase sounded very passionate as he explained  his track record throwing parties going on 4 years, admitting to the viewers that he is responsible for the crowd that East St.Louis club Posh and inherited rather people believe accept it or not. He urges all promoters that make less than half of the earnings from promoting to stop considering themselves as promoters (in some cases sounding direct to certain people but…. if the shoe fits wear it…right). He talks about their current parties at the City on Saturday’s &and 609 on Sundays, also announcing their return to Escalades Bar& Grill. Before closing Verb addresses listeners again expressing to all their hater’s to do better. For more on their interview Click Link for more on the interview with Chase & Verb Click Picture at the Below.

After that there was about 20 minutes left to the show we played more indie music and signed off till next show. Make sure y’all tune in next week  the 40 year old rapper has scheduled, also rumored platinum recording artist, up coming djs, an artist who works with Soulja Boy, and more so tune in 12p-4p Cst 89.5.

Beta Radio Review: Week 1 Dont Stop The Show

Beta Review For Audio Click Here

August 18th 2012, Beta Radio was aired. Some of the topics of the week included rumors that Nas doesn’t write his own music, the ongoing beef with Ludacris and rising hip hop stars Big Sean & Drake. Confirmed guest Def Jam’s Ray Jr & Pine Lawn’s The 80’s Baby.

Def Jam’s new recording artist was suppose to call in 12:15 Pm but after an 1 hour passed we didn’t expect him to call . Saint Louis artist 80’s baby came through (late) & reviewed several tracks in rotation on the show, & even gave one song a rare green light. Some of the Songs he reviewed were from St.Louis artist L’z up, Tef Poe, Contact, North Carolina’s Male Artist of the Year Young Dirt, Texas Artist T Fields.  Also during he show he called out a few artist from St.Louis that claim Pine Lawn. He even went as far to say that one of the artist in question has never lived in Pine Lawn, never been to a hood bbq, never held it down for Pine Lawn. He also talked about the state of Hip Hop in St.Louis as well as other topics.

By the end of te show Def Jam’s Ray Jr never called in.  I took some cool pictures with the 80’s Baby and broke new tracks like TAG teams Over dose, & the 80’s Baby Wowzer’s. The 1st person to tweet @rayjr216 and mention me and skipping the interview gets a surprise.

RITZ ROCKS ATOMIC COWBOY

Good things happened 6/26/2012 when Ritz touched down in St. Louis for the revival tour, at the Atomic Cowboy. It started off with a lot of great local indie talent, White Owl, Preach, and plenty more. Special guest League of extraordinary G’z entertained the crowd before and during their performance, especially with their mascot Lion. They brought a new sound I wasn’t used to hearing from Texas artist. I wasn’t able to catch the beginning of Ritz performance but when but with the song I came in on caught my attention immediately. He gave an excellent stage show and even stayed for most of the after party which included performances from So & So, Step or Get Left, and special guest Tef Poe.

Overall it was a good show well organized, zero confusion. Only things I noticed that was a downer was the song selection of The Legendary Dj Sno, the heat, and long performances from opening acts. Sno played a lot of urban/ club music which I really enjoyed but, the crossover crowd wasn’t too enthused with Yo Gotti & 2 Chains. I always knew that when you put a bunch of Black people together it gets hot and hell & I never experienced a bunch of white people bunched together until that day. The end result was that a cool breeze swept through the crowd….bull shit it was hot as hell. Salute to the bear Mascot   he jepradized his health to entertain us all, lol. I enjoyed all of the performance’s but found myself getting tired of hearing them after the 1st 10 minutes of each set.

After Ritz performed his set we caught up with him for an interview.   He gave us good answers as we asked about his cracker influenced rap name, the Caucasian rapper time gap, and more. After the camera stopped rolling we continued to talk for a moment. With his humble words, and obvious hunger I became a fan of Ritz & if he comes back to St. Louis I will come see him & so should you. Shout out to Royal1mangement.com for bringing him to town.
