October 5th at Studio 618 $1000.00 was up for grabs. $500 was to go to the artist with the most fans in attendance, & the winner of the other $500.00 was to be given to to who ever the judges decided on. At the end of the night with 30 plus fans in attendance Hot Spitta easily won the 1st $500.00 prize. The second prize wasn’t so easy.
While the judges deliberated in a backroom of studio 618, there were heated arguments about who should win, why they should win, and why others shouldn’t win. Many names were brought up and at the end they decided on a young female who was actually born in East Saint Louis, according to her bio, and who had quit her job just to make it to the showcase, who raps by the name Donesty.
While there are some that are upset at the outcome a few people asked me who I would have had in my Top 5 and who I thought should have won. Maybe I will maybe I won’t.
Between late September and early October, Travie McCoy (Member of Gym Class Hero’s), Dorrough (Ice Cream Paint Job), & YMCMB Star Drake all had dates postponed due to issues not related to ticket sales according to sources for each event. Even though with each event signs indicated other wise.
Drake’s tour which is pushed by the machine Live Nation almost use physical flyers to promote their events, but had plenty on the streets of downtown St.Louis weeks before the cancelled date. Also, many unaccredited sources were giving away tickets leading some to believe that maybe no one wants to go.
This is part of a larger trend of concerts in St.Louis either being cancelled, postponed, or having a lower than expected turn out. Is St.Louis tired of Celebrities, are ticket prices too much, or all these things continuously happening all just coincidences.
Seemed like just last year we all made jokes about Memphis born rap star Yo Gotti, living in St.Louis with at least 3-4 shows last year in the gateway city, and countless collabs with artist from across the city.
With his latest single and new deal, it seems like its time for Yo Gotti to to hit new cities , and leaving old fans behind.
For those who want to see the King of Memphis live in concert from St.Louis, the closest shows are in Columbia & Kansas City, Mo October 3rd & 5th.

Once upon a time, in real life there was a boy named Zoe & a girl named Dae both freshman in high school . One day there were to meet at an intersection near were they both lived so that Dae could go to Zoe’s house. Upon traveling to the intersection Zoe was approached by an older male, that was riding a bike similar to the one Debo rose in the movie Friday, his face resembled Anthony Hamilton’s . The man, who was no younger than his earlier 20’s but realistically looked much older asked Zoe, in a nonchalant voice, “are you Zoe.” Zoe looked to his left and right to make sure the the man wasn’t speaking to anyone else, and to make sure his surroundings were safe before he answered. After a brief silence Zoe replied, “yeah.” At that moment the man hoped on a his rustic bike and traveled in the opposite direction.
After the weird incident Zoe was wondering, what was taking Dae so long, impatiently waiting because this would be his 1st time experiencing this sweet brown pie he had heard so much about. He was also puzzled to who the man on the bike may have been.
After waiting for about 5 minutes Dae finally arrived, looking beautiful and bold with her corn rows in here head, her cherry red lip gloss, and the biggest breast of any freshman girl. Zoe was excited to see her and was ready to take her home for new experiences.
They began walking and talking, laughing flirting on their way back to Zoe’s house. One house away from their destination Dae shouted out, “Oh my God I think he followed us.” At that moment Zoe Glanced into behind near a wide bush, there was a an object attempting to hide. After discovering that he has been seen, he hopped on his bike and went full steam to approach the two freshman, his tires screeched as he stopped his bike. He hoped off walked to Dae in an Ike Turner fashion, he grabbed her wrist and yelled out, “Dae we need to talk.” Puzzled about his new, & unknown stalker, Zoe dashes into his house for a golf club, then to his neighbors house, to grab his friend Cue, just in case they had to Jump the mysterious man. After the grown man finished talking with Dae, he hopped on his bike, and shouted, “This ain’t over.”
Moments after the man left, Zoe finally got Dae inside the house. But, at this time the mood was quite different from the one less then 20 minutes prior. There was no laughter, no flirting, just a vibe that was now ruined. She made an excuse to leave and Zoe was happy she did. Being polite, Zoe asked did she need him to follow, she quickly answered with a “it would be best that you stay here.” Knowing that Zoe was more than likely going to meet up with the man he left her go. Alone.

5.Stand Up for Marissa Alexander
A lot of you may say who is this and what’s the fight. Well, Marissa Alexander was sentenced to 20 years in prison for standing her ground in the summer of 2010, against her abusive husband who beat her while she was pregnant. After yet another beating, Alexander fired a warning shot that days prior to the incident. Alexander was trained to use a weapon and received a concealed weapons permit. She didn’t kill or even hurt anyone, receives 20 years, while George Zimmerman killed an innocent child and goes home. All the while we won’t stand up for her because its not in the headlines.

Boycott Florida4.Boycott the State Of Florida
If you ever been outraged about any court case in Florida,( Casey Anthony trail,Elliot Gonzales, the 2000 election, the list continues) and this was the straw that broke the camels back, boycott the state of Florida, a system that allows a victim to go un just. Stand up against Florida, no Miami Heat, no Disney Land, Sea World, no Rick Ross, etc, etc, until their justice system, provides real justice for all. But of course we like what we like and won’t be boycotting anything in Florida, even though its not safe for African American boys to walk the suburbs of the state, we will spend $1000 +, 20 miles of away from Travon’s Final destination at Disney World, or Universal Studio’s.
3.Encourage the President and Attorney General to seek federal charges against George Zimmerman
The Sate of Florida already gave their opinion on how this case should end, but it is far from over. If you want justice for Trayvon Martin, or against George Zimmerman, support organizations that are applying pressure to the Attorney General & Barrack Obama to seek federal charges. Not to forget, the family is also seeking a civil suit, against George Zimmerman as well making it impossible to make money off of his brutal story. Stand behind them and give them the support you have given them for over a year.
2.Fight for any other African American murdered regardless of the race of the gun man.
Everyday, George Zimmerman gets away with murder. He’s not just white, he’s the drive by shooter, he is gang retaliation. If you are upset about George Zimmerman, be enraged about the innocent killing of any. But then again, we have a code of silence and we all know snitches get stitches.
1. Be Prepared,
When you can stalk an unarmed teen, kill an unarmed teen, and receive 0 punishment anywhere in the United States, that scares me and makes me believe that this could happen any where else in the United States of America. Lets watch, protect, and give out futures as much as we can to protect them from future travesties.
