Bad Bad Records to close in 5...4...3...2...

The label who brought us Classic acts, such as Biggie Smalls, Mary J Blidge, the introduction of Young Jeezy with rap group Boyz in The Hood, and countless others is reportedly shutting down with all acts either being dropped or carried by parent company Interscope.

Failing to make a major impact in the music business since its last certified album in 07, most of staff have been transferred to Diddy’s current successful companies, such as Revolt TV, and Ciroc.

The end of the iconic label has not been confirmed as of yet but sources are stating that operations make come to a halt soon as we enter Black History Month.

@DJSmallz Warns Indie Artist of Opening Act Fraud On Facebook

Dj Smallz Creates a video Blog warning artist on a growing trend acting unknowing indie artist, as he refers to as “Opening Act Fraud.” It happens when someone claiming to be the manager or close assailant of a major artist such as 2 Chains, Yo Gotti, T.I. and use only facebook photo’s to verify who they are, that might not even be their photo’s.

He gives several red flags such as paying with a Greed Dot card, or money pack which is makes it hard to track payment or person(s) paid. He also states what he considers to be a golden rule, that if an opportunity is to good to be true it probably is, and the final 2 should be common sense how many major concerts secretly solicits artist to open up, specifically artist that they don’t know. The last thing, and he didn’t touch on this double sometimes triple, reference who you are dealing with, see if they are any other major sites, such as twitter, ig, Linked In, etc.

Beware of scams and spend money with verified promoters, its bitter sweet to see artist telling local promoters how they don’t pay for shows, or how local promoters over charge, etc and then spend there money with a stranger just to get nothing.

Be wise. S/o Dj Small for the video.

Chi Town Legend @TWISTAgmg Rocks Diverse Crowd at the Mad Magician

Chi Town Legend @TWISTAgmg Rocks Diverse Crowd at the Mad Magician

From Po Pimping, to Popping Tags, the man who can make you an overnight celebrity brought down the house January 26th in St.Louis South Side, courtesy of Arch Front Media and the Mad Magician concert Venue.

Getting there half an hour after doors opened at 7, I was greeted with diversity with fans of different races, ages, and income, already in attendance. While waiting on the openers to begin performing, and during intermissions I was impressed than ever with Dj Style Playlist as the #1 Dj on Reverbnation St.Louis Charts , played an array of up to date hits, although some of his selections through the mostly young crowd off their “turn up” agenda.

The opening acts included Doorway, Preach, and an artist worth noting Wally Kuhlenberg, “Black Kid Jewish Name”, who had something to prove to the crowd as he acted the crowd with his rapid flow similar to Twista with out the years of perfection and nature swag of the Chi Town Legend. After each opening act you can tell that the crowd was getting more and more, impatient as from 10 30 – 11 the concert venue became more and more like a lunch room with tens of people talking about their own agenda instead of watching the performers give their all on stage.

As 11 O Clock came Twista hit the stage and immediately everybody in the building was attracted to the front of the stage. Camera phones, tablets, and other devices all in the air to capture classics being performed like, Slow Jamz , Overnight Celebrity, Adrenaline Rush, and countless other classics.

Its worth noting that Arch Front Media, & the Mad Magician have other shows coming up including Stevie Stone March 8th, and the Mafia 6 late march.

How @DaReal_TPrince1 & @Swurvie91 won the Winter Midwest Best Showcase

Midwest Best Best winners @DaReal_TPrince1 @Swurvie91 th

S/o to the winners of the 1st Midwest Best Competition of 2014, T Prince & Young Swurvie.

Young Swurvie won the 1st cash prize bringing in over 25 people in attendance, and being the only artist that night to bring in over 20 fans. One way he was able to bring out his crowd and make make new fans was by giving away his brand of T-Shirts, which he was one of the only few artist giving out or even bringing out merchandise.

T Prince who was the judges unanimous decision took home the 2nd cash prize. The key things the judges were looking for was image , stage presents, sound quality, and song likability. They were impressed with his image rocking his label, Blo Music Mafia Clothing brand which was beyond basic, compared to the usual rapper based hoody / shirt lines. It was also easy to identify his movement in the crowd with his key supports rocking like wise attire. Even though he didn’t do back flips on stage, what the judges liked most about his stage presence was his confidence, he wasn’t nervous at all as he looked the entire crowd dead in their eyes, and hitting every word of his song precisely with no fumbles.

While there were others in consideration like Ne Ne Goon & the Green Light Boys who they believed had a dynamic performances , and Bigg Rich who impressed them a lot with all of the thought he put in to his show disc which almost sounded like he had his own professional Dj on Stage with him. The deciding factor was song likability which set T-Prince apart from the other top 5 contestants, they were blown away about the 4 minute tale of St.Louis, and another thing they liked about his song was that he was confident enough to go with 1 track. More things that was said about the winner was that he didn’t talk as much shit as most people who hit the stage, boasting and bragging about how they were the best and how they were going to win. Even in the crowd as he shouted out various hoods in St.Louis, certain people were excited that some one thought to bring up their hood and saluted him.

After announcing who won there were and will always be people who were upset that they didn’t win, which is understandable, even Beyonce lost competitions as she started her journey in music. Shout out to all who kept it professional and even those who let their emotions get the best of them, some times losing a battle is needed to learn how to win the war.
