2014 was a stellar year for rising Memphis rap artist Miscellaneous, from releasing his short film”Dude Wheres My Gar,” to the many awards, and award nominations from award shows through out the south, and starting his own label, where he is currently looking for new talented artist and producers.
Riding the success of his 2014 accomplishments Miscellaneous is expecting to release his newest project titled “Broke and Famous,” in the 1st quarter of 2015, and released the 1st visuals for the project December 16th, for a song titled “F@#k the Industry,” which gathered more than 17,000 views on top rap site Worldstarhiphop.com and less than 24 hours, and over 5,000 views on youtube with in the same time period.
This single, speaks on the behind the scene politics that frustrate many artist have while trying to become the next rising star, touching on pay to play with radio and club djs, 360 contracts and more sensitive topics for hip hop artist, as he echo’s “I ain’t no hoe,” through out the video.
The video, shot by Yawn Filmz, features cameo’s from some of Memphis most legendary artist including La Chat, Lil Wyte, & Oscar winning artist Frayser Boy to name a few, and apparel from http://www.successovereverythingclothing.com/ including to of the hats he wore in the video, as well as at least 2 shirts.
Rap duo ESE, or East Side Entertainment, or Lil Charles & Twan release the video to their street single,”Stl on My Fitted” October 16th with about 950 views on youtube a month after the debut. Shot by B Magic, the video takes you on a brief tour St.Louis Metro and metro east area from Ball Park Village down town to, the closed doors of Posh Night Club and many other familiar landmarks.
The song its self talks about life, struggles, & love, of the 314/618 area and the fashion most of us rock to represent that love for our city. Check out the song and help them hit 1,000 views before December.
East Saint Louis female rap group PGR, Phat Girls Rock, performing there comical and freaky song, “In Luv with a Snicker,” in which they sing about their lust for the chocolate, nutty, and pleasing snicker, live at Studio 618 in East Saint Louis.
Self proclaimed hip hop Mermaid, and sometimes thoting Justine Valentine has been dropping videos like crazy, 1 day after releasing a 1 scene video to her remake of Iluvmakingmoni’s “Tuesday” track she decides to drop something with more substance off her latest mixtape “Red Velvet, a song titled ‘Freedom’.
Released November 12th with over 2,000 views in its 1st 2 days the ‘Freedom’ video starts off with news clips of police brutality aftermath of the murders of Eric Garner in Long Island, NY (July 16th,2014), and Mike Brown in St.Louis,MO August 9th 2014, and shows clips through out the video of various acts against people including international injustice.
In the heart of Oklahoma some rather be considered weird then real, well at least Okc duo the WeRdoze who have released their latest video “93” in late 2014. Listening to the song I have no clue to why the title is what it is, but the visuals and production do give me an antique hip hop vibe, with the production soundings something like that early 90’s Outkast & Ugk.
This video is proudly inconsistent with today’s video trends, lacking a ten plus member crew scene, club scene, bottles, drugs, and even lacks a pretty face or as some say video vixens, and mostly showcases the duo , and clips of possible child hood moments, and even farm animals.
The song is not the most lyrical track, but also isn’t whack at all, check it out provide your thoughts. “93” to “2014”
